What We Do.

Our Mission.

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment.

Our Vision.

Women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams.

Core Values.

Soroptimist International of the Americas is committed to:
Gender Equality: Women and girls live free from discrimination.
Empowerment: Women and girls are free to act in their own interest.
Education: Women and girls deserve to lead full and productive lives through access to education.
Diversity & Fellowship: Women from varied backgrounds and perspectives work together to improve the lives of women and girls.

Our History.

Soroptimist was formed in 1921 in Oakland, California. Our name, loosely translated from the Latin, means best for women. We are one of four federations that make up Soroptimist International, which has clubs in more than 122 countries throughout the world and over 75,000 members.

Since our charter in 1943, Soroptimist International of Glendale has donated millions of dollars to our community, supporting programs and partnerships that improve the lives of women and girls. Our members are active leaders in Glendale, helping women achieve their career goals through the Live Your Dream education and training awards, providing girls career mentoring and career exploration through the Dream It, Be It programs, introducing forums on human trafficking, and providing grants to impactful, service providers.
