SIG BIG GOAL ACCELERATOR PROJECT PARTNERSHIP
Soroptimist Intl of Glendale (SIG) has partnered with Glendale Community College’s (GCC) Visual and Performing Arts department to establish a scholarship endowment for women studying music or performing arts to support their educational goals while strengthening their career path. Contributions to this event will build on the endowment for women in this field of study. Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that increases access to education for women and girls facing obstacles, which leads to achieving their goals and becoming economically self-sufficient. Soroptimist Intl of Glendale strongly believes that education is the pathway to economically empowering women, and we desire to create a scholarship for women who face obstacles to accessing education to meet the SIA’s Big Goal Accelerator Project from 2021 to 2031.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT
The SIG endowment was a collaboration with the GCC Music Department in the Visual and Performing Arts Program in 2022, which includes the Symphony of the Verdugo, to perform a classical and modern music collection by students and professionals. This invaluable partnership has created an opportunity to establish an annual concert fundraiser at GCC to support women students applying for and receiving, if eligible, the Soroptimist scholarship. SIG has given five scholarships over the past two years, of which three were in Music and two in Performing Arts. We aim to grow that number annually by providing three scholarships at $500.00 per student. Your contribution will assist in bridging the gaps in student academic and training expenses.
