Hunger Crisis
WE ARE SOROPTIMIST.
Food insecurity on college campuses in the United States is a hidden crises. Lack of adequate food resources not only undermines academic success, but also poses a threat to college students‘ health. Data from 123 colleges, with 86,000 students participating, reflects the dire state of 45% of students suffering from hunger on campus, most of which are women.
Glendale Soroptimists have taken steps at a local level — including the program below — to address this problem by working with community organizations and educational institutions to find solutions.
